Choosing who to invite to your wedding is no easy task. Some couples find they don’t have enough money budgeted to invite everyone on their list. This leaves room for people to become offended and this can cause serious rifts in relationships, even amongst close relatives. Then there’s the issue of whether or not to invite co-workers, certain friends who may just be acquaintances, or maybe you’re stuck with the dilemma of whether or not to invite your boss even though you’d really rather not. Would the latter cause tension at work?

Don’t worry. This doesn’t have to be as stressful as it looks. The first thing you should do when trying to decide who to invite to your wedding is write down everyone you can think of who you may consider inviting. Then, put them in order of importance.

It may seem cruel to grade some people in your life as more important than others. However, when it comes to your budget, this is very necessary. It’s not as hard as you think. Your parents, for instance, will likely come before your co-workers. And your sister or brother will probably come before your best friend. When you’ve created your list, decide how much it’s going to cost for each head. You’re going to be feeding and entertaining these people. That takes money. Once you have a figure in mind, divide it amongst all the people on your list and you’ll soon see whether or not you have to cut anyone.

When it comes to cutting, start at the bottom of the list and move your way up. If you’re worried about offending those people, just tell them the truth; you didn’t have that big of a budget or that you just wanted a small wedding. They never have to know. You can also perhaps just invite these people to any evening celebrations, and just have close family to the ceremony and wedding breakfast.

When it comes to invitations, etiquette says that you should invite everyone in your family and your friends. You don’t need to invite co-workers if you don’t want to, and you certainly don’t have to invite your acquaintances if you don’t want to. Most people will understand wanting a small ceremony or even budget problems, as most of them have probably faced the same dilemma themselves.

Children

One other hurdle you’ll likely face is whether or not to allow children to be present at your wedding. Children can become unruly and can quickly interrupt one of the most important days of your life. However, you may end up offending parents who may think you’re assuming their kid will be unruly. On the other side they can also bring light and life to the proceedings, making it a real family affair. The basic rule with this is to remain consistent. Don’t allow one person to bring their child if their child is normally docile and then not allow another person to bring theirs. Make one rule and stick to it. On the other hand, kids make great flower girls and ring bearers.

These are just a few ideas to keep in mind when deciding on who to invite to your wedding; a task that doesn’t have to be as hard as it seems.

The first step in DIY wedding invitations is to gather together the important details about big day needed. Addresses, times, the actual event and other instructions the attendees will require. Knowing the amount of invitations that you will require is also fundamental. This will tell you how complex you can be without breaking the bank or not having enought time to compleat the job.

There are kits available everywhere to assist the whole project. Some are basically blank cards with wedding related clip art and some fancy edging. While different kits include folded cards along with computer programs to aid in the building of your ultimate masterpiece. This can be helpful, but certainly isn’t crucial if you have any applicable experience.

When you begin the DIY wedding invitations, the two things to remember are clarity and beauty. You want the invitations to be alluring and elegant, but you need it to be legible. You should be brave enough to design in a publishing or word processing program, print out samples and make changes. It is vital to print before making a decision, despite trying very hard, images on screen and on paper aren’t the same thing. Use ordinary paper until you get the results you are looking for, then you can go to using the proper invitation cards you intend. Do not be afraid to experiment. You can use a paper cutter, hole punch, tape and different types of card to create astonishing effects at the cost of time and effort.

The cards you create have a huge advantage over purchased cards. They express your personality and desires, instead of what someone else thinks is appropriate. If the quantity of invitations isn’t too high, it is possible to add a color picture of the couple. Even if the amount of invitations is too large for the amount of ink required, the guests with parts in the wedding might get such personal additions.

For some, there is a tendency to believe that printing is the end of the job, aside from for putting the invitations into an envelope. You should be brave enough to sign the invitations, if there aren’t too many, or to use attachments like colored cardstock shaped like a heart or butterfly, or a ribbon.

After you have the design finalized, create one for real. Check your plan to see if it really looks like you are looking for before you start printing all the cards out. Depending on the design you have created and the printer, this can take some time, so plan around any need to keep loading blank cards into the printer or keep a watch on the printing.

Once you have produced your DIY wedding invitations, check them against the attendees, collate them into envelopes and send them out, with one less task to concern you.

Weddings are very expensive, whether you are paying for things yourself, or are one of the lucky ones and your parents are paying for it. Chances are you have already dished out a lot of money for the ceremony, reception and caterers and even the wedding dress and tuxedo. The last thing you want to do is spend more money. So why not consider making your own wedding invitations, also known as DIY wedding invitations. DIY wedding invitations are great for those who are on a budget or who are looking to save some money. Often times, it is hard to choose a wedding invitation that meets your wants and needs. Stock invitations are often over priced and over used. You are limited to the choices that the companies have to offer. Therefore, you may not be able to get the perfect invitation you desire.

Homemade invitations allow the wedding couple to express their own personality through the creativity of the invitations. Your only limitation is your imagination. However, it is important that you keep in mind, that the invitation is often the first clue the guest will receive to the tone of the overall wedding. On the market today, there are quite a few computer programs that can assist you in making your own invitations. There are even free templates offered on some websites. You simply insert a picture or photograph, along with the details of your wedding and you are ready to print your invitations.

Computers are not the only way to create DIY wedding invitations. Wedding stationary can easily be purchased from various arts and craft stores. You have several options of ways to use the stationary. If you choose to, you can print off your invitations on the stationary. Another great option, when using stationary, is to use stamps to create your DIY wedding invitations. Stamps allow you to create invitations that range from simple and elegant to vibrant and fun.

When creating DIY wedding invitations, it is often the little extras that make the invitations stand out and special. Consider adding a dried flower or ribbon to the invitation for some extra flare. For a personal touch, you can add a picture to the inside of the wedding. Invitations like these will be treasured for many years after the actual wedding has taken place. There are also wedding kits available to assist you in making DIY wedding invitations. Generally, invitation kits will provide everything you need to make the perfect wedding invitations. They usually include the paper, envelopes, software and templates to print off the invitations with, as well as extras such as ribbon.

No matter what type of wedding invitation you make, as long as you put your own personality into, you are sure to love it, as well as will your guests. In the long run, you will be quite happy you decided to with DIY wedding invitations. Because not only will it help you to save a lot of money, but it will also allow you to express your personality.

Your wedding invitations are your guests’ guide to preparing for your wedding day. Invitations reveal the atmosphere of your wedding and allow your guests to know who is hosting the event, as well as the type of ceremony and any activities to attend afterwards. Choosing the wrong wording for your wedding invitations can convey much different expectations than what you intended. Follow these wedding invitation wording etiquette rules to ensure that your guests are well informed and properly addressed.

The first line of the wedding invitation tells who is hosting the event. The parents of the bride traditionally sponsor the wedding, but, today, there are several other invitation wording possibilities. If the bride’s parents are divorced but still hosting the event together, it is acceptable to list both parents along with their new spouses. Invitation wording etiquette for a wedding hosted by the bride and groom is to list both full names, with the bride’s first. You can also begin with “Together with their families” in this situation.

The next line of your wedding invitation should tell guests what type of ceremony to expect. A traditional church wedding should read “Request the honor of your presence” while an outdoor wedding or a ceremony in a non-religious setting properly state “Request the pleasure of your company.” Always use full names, including middle names, on the wedding invitations and use Mr. and Mrs. before the names of the hosting parents. It is also acceptable, but not required, to use Mr. before the groom’s name and Miss or Ms. before the bride’s.

Wedding invitation wording etiquette says to never abbreviate. Spell out all suffixes and titles, like Junior or Doctor, and use Roman numerals for anything beyond “the second.” The time and date should also be completely spelled out, beginning with the day, date, and month, and then followed by the written time and afternoon or evening to designate P.M.
The final line of the wedding invitation should tell your guests’ where the ceremony will be held. Remember to avoid abbreviating the name of the location and list the full address, spelling out road types, like Avenue or Boulevard.

Refrain from mentioning gift registry information or anything similar in the invitation. Wedding etiquette rules consider gift requests to only be acceptable with a shower invitation, and it is still not acceptable to request cash gifts. Do include information about your reception on the invitation as well.

Wedding invitations are typically accompanied by two envelopes, an inner and an outer envelope. Both envelopes must be addressed, the inner with the names of the invited guests and the outer with the complete address as well as the names. Though it is acceptable to have the return address printed on the outer envelope, you should always address the envelopes by hand.

Use both first and last names on the outer envelope and avoid abbreviating titles, suffixes, and road names. It is only acceptable to use “and guest” on the inner envelope and only if the invitee does not have a steady significant other. Using “And family” is appropriate on the inner envelope if you would like children to attend your wedding ceremony.

Properly wording and addressing your wedding invitations can be simple and fun if you remember these simple rules. Using acceptable wedding invitation wording etiquette will ensure that your guests know exactly what to expect from your ceremony and will make your invitations a beautiful keepsake of your special day.

As you reach the time to design your invitations, you get to think on the appropriate wedding invitation wording. On which words you would like your guests to read when they open the envelope. If you write down normal common words, your invitations could turn out to be quite boring. That is why creative wording for wedding invitations is very important.

What to do first

The first thing you must decide on is who is going to invite the guests to the ceremony. It could be the bride and groom, the bride’s parents, the groom’s parents, or the bride’s and groom’s parents. This is very important because the invitation will focus around the person who is inviting.

The bride’s and groom’s parents are the ones that usually invite the people to their child’s wedding, but it has become very popular now a day that the bride and groom invite the guests.

Creative thinking

Once that is determined, you can begin to think on creative wording. A great technique many people use for creative wedding invitations is beginning the card with a quote that represents your marriage, such as: “And the two shall become one…”

If your wedding is going to have a theme, it is wise to start the invitations with something about it. Let’s say you are going to have a tropical wedding. You’re invitation could start with something like: “Love drifts in like a soothing tide on the dry sand”. Try to think of something that will go perfectly with the theme of your wedding.

Personalize it

For a more personalized wedding invitation it is best to write down something that stands for you and your partner something that speaks for you. The words must make your guests remember you when they read them. It could be a quote that you say a lot or one that describes you perfectly. If you can’t remember of something like that, try asking your closest friends and family for suggestions.

Treat them like kings

As creative as you get when you write down the words for your invitations, always remember to use words like “the pleasure of your company” or “the honor of your presence”. Try to think of the words in a very elegant manner, so that when your guests read them, they feel as if like they were being treated like royalty.
